Frequently Asked Questions

Color Factory is committed to your safety.

Color Factory has always maintained a world-class facilities team and cleaning procedures across each of our locations. We recommend face masks for all guests, but they are not required. Please click HERE for more information about our safety protocols. If you already purchased a ticket, but feel sick, have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, contact us at support@colorfactory.co so we can reschedule your tickets for another date. Tickets are non-refundable.

Each location includes a unique mix of site-specific installations, fan favorites, collaborations with new artists and creatives, and partnerships with local nonprofits and small food businesses we love.

Along with your curiosity about color, you must bring your ticket (and someone 16 years old or older, if you are under 16 years old). Face masks are recommended but not required. Color Factory face masks are available for purchase onsite.

Sadly, no. Tickets can only be purchased in advance through our website. Tickets purchased on unauthorized third-party websites or through scalpers are not permitted.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable. However, we are happy to transfer them into another name as long as you make the request 48 hours before your visit. If you feel sick, have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, contact us at support@colorfactory.co so we can reschedule your tickets for another date.

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your purchased time slot, we will help you reschedule your tickets for another time.

Our team will double check your ticket at the door. Once inside, you’ll register to access the photo booths throughout the exhibit and sign a required liability waiver.

It varies for each guest, but visits usually last about an hour to an hour and a half. Additionally, your experience extends beyond Color Factory with our free Color Map, which is offered at the end of your visit. Our map guides you through nearby neighborhoods to discover even more colorful surprises our team has created for you.

Yes! And, you can take your time going through each room. However, we ask that you don’t revisit any areas you’ve already passed through. (One-way only!)

Yes, Color Factory is ADA compliant.

Color Factory is made with all audiences in mind. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by someone 16 years old or older. Some installations require looking or listening (rather than touching), so we ask that adults supervise accordingly. Wall text and our staff are there to guide you and ensure you experience all the colors.

Appropriate attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times. Color Factory is a casual, family environment. We ask you to use your discretion and common sense.

Attire that is not appropriate for Color Factory—and which may result in refusal of admittance or removal from the venue—includes but is not limited to:

  • Revealing clothing that exposes indecent or excessive portions of skin and may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment

  • Clothing and/or visible tattoos with objectionable material (including obscene, sexual, violent, racist, discriminatory, or political language or graphics)

We provide stroller storage in our lobby (strollers must be folded). Strollers are not permitted in the exhibit due to the sometimes intimate layout.
Outside food or drinks are not permitted inside Color Factory. Special treats — edible and otherwise — are part of the experience and will be offered to you in certain installations.
Bathrooms are available on-site at the beginning and near the end of the tour. We encourage guests to use them before entering the exhibit.

Please hold on to your hats (and cell phones)! Color Factory is not responsible for missing items. While we do have a lost and found, we cannot guarantee that your missing item will
be located. Please contact support@colorfactory.co for more details.

We encourage you to take as many photos as you like! That being said, please be considerate of others enjoying the exhibit. Tripods, external flashes and lights, excessive props, commercial or product shoots, media shoots, press interviews, and all professional video equipment are prohibited without advance approval and accompaniment from a Color Factory representative. Contact us at pr@colorfactory.co for requests. To give you the option of putting your phone away and to help you appreciate the exhibits more fully, we’ve integrated photo booth stations throughout our space. Please note: despite our best efforts to keep these cameras & lenses clean, operational, and calibrated correctly, we do experience equipment failure from time to time. We can’t guarantee every photo station’s equipment at any given moment, so if you are worried about getting a particular shot please make sure to capture it on your personal camera as well.

We are committed to working with and giving back to nonprofit groups in the communities we are located in. In NYC, we’ve collaborated with and made donations to 826NYC, God’s Love We Deliver, Coalition for the Homeless, RAICES Texas, LAND Gallery and Housing Works. In Houston, we’re collaborating with and making donations to The Montrose Center and Project Color Corps. A portion of sales in our Color Factory gift shops go to our partner nonprofits.
